History
Sojourns Community Health Clinic
was founded by Dr. Linda Haltinner and incorporated
as a nonprofit in January, 2000. Dr. Haltinner has been
a health care practitioner for over 22 years. Prior
to founding Sojourns, she ran a successful private practice
serving over 2000 families as Saxtons River Family Chiropractic
(SRFC) for 14 years.
Dr. Haltinner conceived of Sojourns
as means of achieving a broader and farther-reaching
impact on the health care delivery system locally and
regionally. She envisioned and facilitated the realization
of a truly integrated wellness-based health and educational
center where clients participate in their healing processes,
and integrated practitioner teams
deliver exceptionally high-quality affordable health
care.
After receiving a generous gift
from an anonymous donor, Sojourns was able to purchase
and begin renovation of our current location at Long
River Farm in Westminster Vermont. The farm is eleven
acres of prime Connecticut River bottomland, contiguous
with farmland on either side. It is Certified Organic
and continues to be organically farmed by a local farm
family with strong community ties and a founding role
in the creation of a large organic marketing cooperative
and of farm and garden programs in the local schools.
Our clinic now treats nearly 300
clients per week and offers a broad variety of integrated
client-centered care. Sojourns is a sustainable,
viable community health clinic; in addition to offering
integrated family medicine within our local community,
our growing reputation as a Biological
Medicine clinic has resulted in a growing regional
client base. Our goal is to continue to evolve our integrated
practice model and to serve as a model for future iterations,
locally, nationally and globally.
