April Brumson is a Nurse Practitioner, Acupuncturist and Chinese Herbalist. She has been with Sojourns since 2005, providing patients with the unique perspective of her diverse modalities. With her broad training, April has had much success in working with patients with chronic health issues, helping many patients to improve their relationship with chronic disease.
Before working at Sojourns, April had her own private acupuncture practice doing general patient health care and, in addition, worked in public health clinics that offered acupuncture for drug and alcohol detox as well as AIDS/HIV. In conjunction with this, as a Nurse Practitioner, she worked in a community health center and in family planning.
April graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture in 1986. She extended her training to include a three-year course in Chinese Medicine. In 1998, she received her Masters in Nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She has also completed a two-year certification program in Swiss Biological Medicine, and is currently enrolled in a two-year graduate mentorship in Chinese Medicine.
April speaks Portuguese and Spanish, and enjoys spending time outdoors.
